Just north of the City, Angel sits at the top of Islington where Upper Street meets Pentonville Road. The area takes its name from a long-gone coaching inn and centres on a busy junction with the tube station at its heart. Georgian terraces mix with modernised corners and the Business Design Centre, while Chapel Market runs down towards King's Cross. It draws office workers during the day, local residents most evenings, and a younger crowd at weekends heading for Upper Street's bars and restaurants.

Camden Head and The Pig and Butcher both serve proper cooking alongside their drinks, while down by the canal Plaquemine Lock catches the waterside trade with river views.
