A pub built for lingering conversations

The main hall brings together a high vaulted ceiling, panelled walls, a long bar and small wooden booths. The site has held a pub since 1430, while much of the older material was preserved when the building was reconstructed in 1924.

Samuel Smith beers and classic pub plates

All beers are brewed by Samuel Smith’s Old Brewery in Tadcaster, with cask Old Brewery Bitter served from oak casks in the cellar. The kitchen serves British pub classics alongside lighter dishes, with food available Monday to Saturday from midday to 3pm and 5pm to 9pm.
