Old-world details, proper pub food

The Wrestlers has stood on North Road since 1547, with the present owners running it since 1997. Inside, the original fireplace, wooden furniture and stained glass give the pub a traditional feel, while the menu covers burgers, steak, pies, wings, chips and sandwiches. Sunday lunch brings a choice of lamb, pork, beef, chicken, vegetarian Wellington or vegan nut roast, with roast potatoes, vegetables, gravy and a Yorkshire pudding.

The garden

A small garden behind the pub

At the back, a beer garden seats up to 40 people, with heaters for colder weather. There is also alfresco seating at the front, where you can sit with a beer and watch North Road go by. Dogs are welcome, and gluten-free options are available.
