The Golden Lion is a historic pub on King Street, close to St James’s Park and Buckingham Palace. Inside, small stained glass panes, fox-hunting decor and an upstairs theatre bar set the scene for classic pub food and drinks.

A pub with a story in its walls
Originally built in 1762 and rebuilt in 1900, the Golden Lion retains its stained glass windows and dark wood interior. Upstairs, the theatre bar features memorabilia from the former St James’s Theatre, while the pub’s food menu covers burgers, pies, sandwiches, steaks and Sunday roasts. Dogs and children are welcome.

The bar serves beers, wine, spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, with an outdoor seating area for watching King Street go by. It is a short walk from St James’s Park, Buckingham Palace and Spencer House, and hosts events including Six Nations fixtures.
