A pub built for wandering
The Cheese unfolds through a collection of preserved bars, dining rooms and cellar spaces, with high-backed church pews and a traditional chop-house setting. The site has been a pub since 1538, and the current building dates from after the 1666 fire. Food ranges from pub classics and lighter dishes to the signature steak and kidney pudding.

Yorkshire-brewed beer below Fleet Street
The beers are brewed by Samuel Smith’s at its Old Brewery in Tadcaster, including cask Old Brewery Bitter served from oak casks in the cellar. There are also house wines and a selection of spirits, alongside a menu built around classic British food.

Food service runs Monday to Saturday from 12pm, with last lunch orders at 2:45pm and last dinner orders at 8:45pm. Sunday food service runs from 12pm to 6:30pm; opening hours listed by the venue are Monday to Saturday 12pm–11pm and Sunday 12pm–10:30pm.
